Swedes - the Original Snusers
There is a special relationship between Swedes and snus. There is only a small percentage of the world’s population that knows what snus is. In Sweden it’s the opposite. In Sweden everybody knows what snus is and everybody knows several persons that are using it. It is not easy to say why snus and Swedes are so tightly entangled. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that snus is invented at approximately the same time as and the modern Sweden arises. In a way it is almost imposable to talk about the emigration of the modern Swedish society without talking about snus at the same time since they develop together and intertwine. In Sweden a lot of people are using snus. Some of the world’s famous Swedes that are using it are Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA, the swimmer Therese Alshammar and the famous soccer player Henrik Larsson. Even the King of Sweden is known to use snus from time to time.
A very swedish product
The fact that athletes are using snus is nothing new. In the 1970’s it was very common that ice hockey players were using snus. Snus and ice hockey almost became synonymous in Sweden at this time. It’s hard to thing of something else that is so associated with Sweden as snus. It is a product that has been developed and improved for over two hundred years and that the Swedes have come to love.
